Enigma Egg
St Petersburg Collection wished to pay homage to the code-breakers at Bletchley Park and to celebrate the endeavours of all those associated with the triumphs of the Enigma machine. The combination of the Fabergé name and the Bletchley Park Enigma story proved an irresistible opportunity and the Egg series was fully subscribed within a few months of launch.
Crystal and precious metal have been chosen for the Enigma Egg. The Egg was mouth blown in cobalt blue lead crystal.
Hand decorated in 23 carat gold with decorations taken from the staircase at Bletchley, it bears a sterling silver World War 2 Bletchley badge. To the front appears an image of the goose and its golden egg, so lauded by Winston Churchill.
The finial takes the form of the rose which decorates the mansion ceilings, with a sparkling diamond set to its centre.
The base of the Egg is decorated with the famous Fabergé swags, offset by further Bletchley architectural decoration.
On opening the Egg, a hand engine-turned silver box - a recreation of the Enigma.
